Little Manila Rising is excited to welcome 11 new trainees to the Fall 2026 Green Paths Cohort. Through the Green Paths Urban Forestry Training Program, South Stockton residents can unlock their potential as collaborators and leaders, gaining skills that open doors in any workplace and especially in the growing field of urban forestry. Urban forestry blends the science of tree care with the art of building strong, resilient communities, often in the face of complex histories and environmental injustices. Over 840 immersive training hours, Green Paths trainees will dive into the world of urban forestry, learning how to green and cool our city in meaningful ways. Trainees will roll up their sleeves for hands-on experience in tree planting, care, identification, site selection, pruning, and more, while also building confidence in community outreach, organizing, public speaking, and event planning. Before they graduate, trainees will polish their resumes and practice their interview skills, preparing to stand out in competitive job markets. Graduates will earn valuable certifications, including OSHA 10 General Industry, First Aid/CPR, ISA Urban Forestry, and ISA Intro to Arboriculture online courses, and will have the chance to shadow professionals in urban forestry, arboriculture, nursery management, and tree services. This opportunity is made possible by support from the Transformative Climate Communities grant and the Cal Fire Workforce Development grant.
