Volunteer Spotlight 💛 Este es Carlos Villagrana. Volunteer Spotlight 💛

Este es Carlos Villagrana. An educator, outdoor explorer, and lifelong believer in the power of nature to connect and heal. Early in life, he found beauty and solace in the outdoors while exploring the arroyos of the colonias and swimming in one of the town lakes. The outdoors made him feel free! Carlos has carried a deep love for the outdoors, shaped by his family's adventures to the Oregon coast, where he explored the wildlife that lived in the tidal pools. 🌎🌿

Now as a Program Coordinator for LO Houston, Carlos continues that legacy by supporting his community through education and by creating spaces where people can connect with nature and their culutra. Whether he’s biking local trails or catching the breeze in Galveston, he reminds us that the outdoors is for all.

Gracias, Carlos, for nurturing community and inspiring the next generation of semillitas! 🌱

Today, we celebrate the heart of our community, the moms, abuelas, tías, and chosen family who pass down strength, stories, and a deep love for tierra y comunidad.

We also honor the many journeys of motherhood. To all those who may be navigating a complex day, you are in our hearts too. 🤍💗🤎❤️

From cave exploring to fishing, hiking, picnicking From cave exploring to fishing, hiking, picnicking, crafting, and yoga, Semillitas Outdoors Week was rooted in joy and time spent outside together! 🌿☀️

Beyond these adventures, we made space to grow through youth mental health trainings that equipped our community with tools to support our growing semillitas. 💛

Gracias to everyone who showed up and celebrated with us!

Beyond this week, our semillitas will continue growing and so will we. We’ll keep the momentum going with family-friendly events and leadership opportunities for youth to explore, connect, and thrive outdoors .
