Jefferson Land Trust is a private, non-profit, community-driven conservation organization in Jefferson County, nestled on the stunning Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Jefferson Land Trust works to preserve open space, working lands, and habitat forever. We collaborate with property owners to promote practices that support species and habitat health. We also focus on maintaining the long-term health of agricultural soils. Conservation requires ongoing care for habitats and a focus on preparing for future impacts. The member will support our efforts through specific conservation activities and ecosystem monitoring. The member will improve community engagement through education and outreach events.
The Habitat Enhancement Crew Member will advance the long-term conservation mission of Jefferson Land Trust by supporting the stewardship of the lands in our care. They will carry out specific restoration activities such as forest thinning, trail decommissioning, native planting, and invasive species control; create and enhance micro habitats using nurse logs, standing snags, habitat piles, etc.; monitor and map current conditions; conduct outreach through presentations, youth education programs, communications materials, and tabling at community events; collaborate with staff and volunteers.
Applications open April 2, 2026 on MyAmericorps.gov. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interview scheduling beginning in late May. Monthly stipend of $3,157.14 plus health insurance, other benefits, and an education award of $7,395 upon successful completion of the 10.5 month term.
