Join LO Fresno for a fun, moderately challenging hike to Horseshoe Bend, with wildflower views and a sandy beach area near the river.

Hike Details:

  • Distance & Elevation: 7 miles, 1,145 ft elevation gain
  • Duration: 3–4 hours (depends on group pace)
  • Trail Type: Out-and-back
  • Terrain: Moderate to difficult; uneven terrain, some uphill/downhill sections
  • Destination: Large sandy beach on the San Joaquin River
  • Highlights: Great views of the San Joaquin River Gorge, oak woodlands, possible wildflower sightings

Who Should Join:

  • Hike is not for beginners
  • Suitable for moderately active individuals with some hiking experience

What to Bring:

  • Plenty of water
  • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • Bug spray
  • Lunch
  • Optional: Dogs on a leash are welcome
  • Snacks and beverages will be provided

Other Notes:

  • Trail is not crowded, so wildlife sightings may be more frequent
  • Bathrooms: None at trailhead; nearest at Mar-Val Food Grocery Store in Prather
  • Parking: Small lot; carpooling encouraged. You may arrange rides among the group once I send out an email to everyone
  • Ride Option: I will offer rides at the following park-and-ride: 790 N Temperance Ave, Clovis, CA 93611 at 7:00 AM
