Latino Outdoors CT is headed to Hungerford Nature Center & Museum for a morning of hands-on learning, wildlife discovery, and a nature walk!

Join Latino Outdoors Connecticut for a morning of hands-on learning, wildlife discovery, and outdoor exploration at Hungerford Nature Center & Museum, located at 191 Farmington Ave, Berlin, CT 06037.

On Sunday, October 4th, at 10:30 AM we’ll gather to spark curiosity through live animal discovery and nature education. Hungerford is home to 50+ live domestic, native, exotic, and farm animals, including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds!

We’ll start with an interactive program led by Hungerford staff, where we’ll meet ambassador animals up close (indoors or out in the farmyard). Afterward, our group will have time to explore the property, check out the interactive museum exhibits, and set off together for a guided hike along the Yellow Hungerford Loop trail. Once we’ve concluded our time together, you’ll have the opportunity to continue exploring up to 22 acres of protected woodland, gardens, pond habitats, and playspaces at your own pace.

Whether you’re a lifelong animal lover, a curious naturalist, or exploring with children, this event offers a welcoming space for our community to connect with nature and each other. Everyone is welcome, whether you are joining solo, coming with friends, or bringing family.

What to Bring:

• Comfortable walking/hiking shoes suitable for dirt trails.
• Dress in layers for the weather (program may take place outdoors or in the farmyard).
• Water bottle and snacks for your family.
• Sun protection or rain gear depending on the forecast.

Parking, Accessibility & Amenities:

• Parking: Free on-site parking lot located conveniently just steps from the entrance. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend arriving early as space may fill during busy times.
• Facilities: Restrooms and indoor classroom/museum facilities are available on-site.
• Trail Terrain: The Yellow Hungerford Loop trail consists of dirt paths with minor root and rock hazards.

Registration & Community Guidelines:

This event is free, but registration is strictly required due to capacity limits for staff led programming. Please register every member of your group (including children).

Latino Outdoors programs are offered at no cost as a service to our communities. Our volunteer leaders dedicate significant time and energy to planning these experiences. If you register, please honor your reservation. If your plans change, kindly cancel your registration as soon as possible so other community members can join us!
