Insurance Coverage for Your Outings

There are many Latino Outdoors outings that are covered by an insurance policy through our fiscal sponsor, Community Initiatives. While there are many activities that are automatically part of our coverage, we need to check in for approval for many high risk activities. To help ensure everyone’s safety, participants (including LO leaders) must sign participation waivers or release of liability forms for ALL organizations supporting an outing and you must ensure that LO has coverage for the outing you are engaging in.

Please see below guidance on activities that automatically have coverage and those that require submission of an additional insurance endorsement request.

Outings Automatically Covered by Insurance 🟢

Outings Not Automatically Covered by Insurance 🟡

These are examples of some outings we have been able to enjoy through approval of an additional endorsement request. To move forward with one of these outings, you must submit this form and receive approval before making commitments. If you are requesting approval for a recurring activity, you may submit one request for the entire series. Include every activity date and the exact location for each instance, participant age range, and all applicable safety details (including guide or leader certifications, required waivers, equipment being used).

To help ensure we receive correspondence before your scheduled outing, please submit your request at least 5 weeks in advance of the outing date. Outings that are not automatically covered and require submission of an additional endorsement request include:

Outings That Are Not Covered by Insurance 🔴

These outings are not covered by our insurance and we are not allowed to engage:

  • Bungee Jumping
  • Hunting
  • Outdoor Rock Climbing
  • Skydiving

Insurance endorsements must include accurate details. Once an endorsement has been approved, any changes to the outing (such as the date, location, activities, or other relevant details) require the endorsement to be updated. If your outing changes or you’re unsure whether a new or updated insurance endorsement is needed, please email rincon@latinooutdoors.org for support before your event.
