Insurance Coverage for Your Outings

Latino Outdoors outing activities are covered by an insurance policy provided by our fiscal sponsor, Community Initiatives. While many activities are automatically included in our coverage, some require additional endorsement. Ensuring that your outing activity is covered helps protect everyone involved.

All participants, including LO leaders, must sign a Latino Outdoors participation waiver/photo release form, in addition to other waivers required by collaborators. This provides another necessary layer of protection.

Please see the guidance below on activities that automatically have coverage and those that require submission of an additional insurance endorsement request.

Outings Not Automatically Covered by Insurance 🟡

Outings that are not automatically covered and require an additional endorsement request include:

While the chances of receiving approval for the following activities are generally high, please wait for coverage confirmation before making commitments.

If you are requesting approval for a recurring activity, you may submit one request for the entire series if the activity and location remain the same each time. Within your additional endorsement request, include the activity dates and recurring location.

Please submit your request at least five weeks in advance of the outing date to allow time to work out any kinks. Be sure to include the participant age range and all applicable safety details (e.g., guide/outfitter involvement, etc).

Important: Insurance endorsements must include accurate details. Once an additional insurance request has been approved, any changes to the outing (such as the date, location, activities, or other relevant details) require the endorsement to be updated. If your outing changes or you’re unsure whether a new or updated insurance endorsement is needed, please email rincon@latinooutdoors.org as soon as you become aware.
