Duties

  • Performing extensive carpentry on non-historic and historic structures according to federally
  • defined guidelines.
  • Performing dock repairs as well as building new docks to include crib structures, shore connectors, bank retaining structures, and floating docks.
  • Performing trail clearing operations on land-based hiking trails, cross country ski trails, snowshoe trails, and snowmobile portage trail systems parkwide.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for winter operations which will include grooming the land-based trail systems as well as the established ice-based trail systems by utilizing a snowmobile, a side-by-side with tracks, and the larger groomer with various drag attachments for each. Other duties will include working with staff with ice checking operations, plowing ice roads with a pickup truck and plow attachment, as well as snow removal at visitor centers walkways and parking lots parkwide.
  • Assisting shop mechanics with associated tasks related to services and repairs when requested.
  • Delivering equipment to dealerships for warranty work and specialty services. Shuttling equipment and materials to various work sites within the park.
  • Assisting with the support of various utility operations and repairs as well as road repair projects.
