Johnson Camp Trail: Join EPIC and Latino Outdoors for a hike through magnificent old-growth forest and back through time in Humboldt County history for our hike to the historic Johnson Backcountry Camp in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Johnson Camp stands today as a respite for backpackers, but was once the site of a remote old-growth redwood logging camp in what is today Humboldt Redwoods State Park.

The hike is a total 10-mile round-trip and is rated “moderate” to “strenuous”, and will include a substantial climb up from Bull Creek Flat in Rockefeller Forest over the first five miles to the historic Johnson Camp location where old buildings from the former logging camp still stand today. Please meet us at the EPIC office in Arcata, CA at 145 G Street, Suite A at 10am. Space is limited, so PLEASE register.

All hikes in our series will be bilingual—providing interpretation in both English and Spanish.

Please wear appropriate clothing and foot ware, bring food, and water, and anything else you may need to be comfortable and safe in the forest. There is a strict NO DOGS rule in place for all our Redwood Hikes series, so please leave your companions at home.

Todas las caminatas en nuestra serie serán bilingües, con interpretación en Inglés y Español.
