IMPORTANT: Each participant over 18 years old should reserve a spot with their own name and email, in which they will receive a waiver to fill out.
We’re offering the opportunity to try out cross-country skiing! Cross-country skiing is a form of skiing where skiers travel on mostly flat snow-covered terrain by propelling forward with the use of skiing poles, as opposed to gravity in downhill skiing. Instructors and gear rentals will be provided to our group by YMCA of the Rockies. NO experience necessary, NO age restrictions

Date: Sunday, February 2nd
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: Downstairs of Nordic Center at YMCA of the Rockies
The gear distribution will begin at 10am, the cross-country skii lesson will begin thereafter. After the lesson, the trail pass is valid the rest of the day. We will follow beginner (green) trails.

If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible by cancelling your tickets or by replying to the Eventbrite email so that we can release spots to those on the waitlist. Spots are limited!

Is there a cost for this event?
This is a free opportunity to gather with Latino Outdoors Colorado community and learn how to cross-country skii together!
What should I bring to the event?
We recommend you bring:
- Water
- Snacks/lunch/warm drink (Skinny Ski Cafe will be open until 5pm at the Nordic Center as well)
- Visit the Schlessman Commons or Buckboard Cafe for other dining options.Warm drink
- Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, protective clothing, or umbrella, etc.)
- Warm/thermal layers
- Winter gear (jacket, mittens/gloves, scarf, beanie, etc)
We reccomend you wear non-cotton and non-jean clothes, as these materials hold moisture and keep you cold.
Cross-country skii gear will be provided. Please answer the questions in the registration so we can get the correct gear size for you.
At least a day before the event, you will receive another email with more instructions on what to expect from the event, including the weather forecast.
Language Accessibility Disclosure:
As a volunteer-led chapter of Latino Outdoors, we rely on the language skill sets of our volunteers and partners. Due to limited capacity and funding, we are not able to provide consistent multilingual, Spanish-language programming, or other Native languages. As an organization, we value transparency and Language Justice, and we want to make sure that our participants are aware of what to expect at each event. The programming for this event will be in English and there will not be formal Spanish interpretation integrated into the event.
The programming for this event will be:
- Programming Language: English only
- Available Interpretation: No language interpretation
- Volunteer Language Proficiency: Bianca – Fluent in Spanish and English, Modesta -Fluent in Engish and conversational in Spanish
