Salary:  $4,987.00 – $6,705.00 Monthly

The Wildland Fire Management Division is a high-functioning team that coordinates and participates in wildfire response throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Aviation Group is recognized nationally as a model fire aviation program. Setting the safety, operations, and maintenance benchmarks is among the Aviation program’s goals. You will work with subject-matter experts who operate and maintain state-of-the-art equipment. 

Responsibilities:

–Develops and administers Wildland Fire Aviation Safety programs, policies, and procedures.
–Conducts risk assessments of aerial firefighting operations and maintenance, ensuring risk mitigation.

Required Qualifications:

–BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university in an aviation-related field.
–Experience with aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS).
–Minimum 2 years experience as an Aviation Safety Officer in Public Aircraft Operations, US Military, or Part 91/133/135/137 type operation with 4 or more aircraft.
–Knowledge in the technical field of aviation safety, training, standards, maintenance, and accident prevention.
–Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations is required.
–Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Washington Ecology, and EPA regulatory requirements is required.
–Ability to effectively communicate hazards.
–Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and remain calm in stressful situations.
–Demonstrate professional bearing and a high degree of technical competency in aviation safety, mishap prevention, and accident investigation.
–Familiarity with ICS operations.
–Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to pay close attention to details.
