POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Manager will support a property acquisition process, and then lead and manage the site development of a $2.2 million dollar Federally-funded 140 acre EcoCultural Stewardship Demonstration Site and Training Center in Upper Lake, CA.

Setup will include supporting the purchase process, contributing to the CEQA / NEPA environmental review process, overseeing setup of the existing structures to an ADA compliant office and shop space, and indoor training facilities. This position will also be responsible for the maintenance of the outdoor space and work closely with the TERA stewardship team for long-term EcoCultural Stewardship of the land.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility Purchase & Setup

• Support the E.D., Property Acquisition Specialist, and Grant Project Manager with purchase process, as well as environmental review (CEQA/NEPA) process by gathering document, doing research, and completing tasks as delegated by team
• Collaborate with the property acquisition team to get the structures into compliance with State, County, and federally funded property regulations, including in adherence with ADA Standards for

Accessible Design

• Identify and procure all necessary items to furnish the office space, training, and storage facilities
  Organize and manage contractors to improve the road, install security, and other improvements

Facilities Management

• Oversee all aspects of building function, safety, and cleanliness
• Develop and implement maintenance systems and routine inspections for on-site structures and landscape
• Prepare and implement budget and timelines for maintenance
• Coordinate renovations and updates as needed and as funding allows
• Identify areas for greater efficiency and cost-saving
• Manage on-site utilities and day-to-day operations of facilities, such as completing maintenance orders

Programmatic Integration

• Collaborate with TERA Program team to integrate the workforce program and TERA field crew into maintenance activities
• Support EcoCultural Stewardship efforts led by crew
• Support trainings happening onsite with facilities needs
  Schedule and plan with all departments to ensure a streamlined flow of overlapping activities
• Contribute to a positive, cohesive team environment where everyone is treated respectfully and fairly
• Complete other duties as assigned

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 + years experience in facility and landscape management, including basic trades such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
• 2+ years experience with Federal, State, and County safety regulations and codes for indoor and outdoor occupational spaces
• 5 + years experience supervising both contractors and employees
• Advanced mechanical skills and familiarity with operating large equipment, mechanical tools, and basic hand tools
• Ability to lift heavy objects and conduct other laborious activities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to listen well, and write and speak effectively
• Strong organizational skills, ability to track on multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously
• Proficiency and flexibility with office technology, specifically Google Drive, Mac and/or PC operating systems, smartphones, conference calls (Zoom), Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience with federally funded property acquisition
• Experience with experiential teaching
• Knowledge of EcoCultural Stewardship and Traditional Ecological Knowledge methods of caretaking land
