Do you want a healthy environment? Do you love spending time outdoors? Are you inspired to teach primary & secondary school age students about local ecology? Eager to learn and work with a team?

Organization & Positions: Nurture NATURE is a small business that offers environmental education programs for 1st – 12th grade students in Oakland, CA. Naturalists learn and help teach students about the natural and cultural history of San Francisco Bay at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in West Oakland, CA.

Students: Most participating schools are OUSD Title 1 schools serving low-income students, the majority of whom are Latinx, African-American, and/or Asian-American.

Locations: For these positions, on-site field trip programs take place at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, within the Port of Oakland. Optional virtual field trips happen online via Zoom.

Work Schedule: Thursday mornings from 8:45 am – 12:45pm between Sep 5, 2024 – Nov 22, 2024 . Occasional Friday mornings are alternatives to Thursdays. Optional virtual programs on Monday or Tuesday mornings. Estimated 75 hours total. Possible extension to Spring 2025 season.

Compensation: Intern Naturalist Base rate is $20.00 per hour. Seasonal Naturalist base rate is $30.00 per hour.
