Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

Perform facility and ground maintenance duties utilizing knowledge and skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, heating and cooling systems, and masonry trades. Work safely, and care for common power, hand tools and materials associated with these trades. Interpret instructions and specifications (includes blueprints, technical manuals). Perform recurring building/structure maintenance and operation duties utilizing journey level knowledge and skills in a variety of trades. Duties require competence and working knowledge of accepted practices of the applicable trade and craft areas to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb and work in awkward positions. Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paint, solvents, and may be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects.

Working Conditions: The incumbent must work in elevations ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 feet. Temperatures vary from 0-115 degrees. May be required to work in snow with icy driving conditions involved. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in areas that may have inadequate hearting an, ventilation, or lighting and in adverse weather condition. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, hazardous materials, asbestos, lead, chemicals, fumes, noise, pollen, and biting insects. May work around moving equipment/machinery. Must wear personal protective equipment whenever conditions warrant their use. May be exposed to electrical shocks and the possibility of burns, cuts, sprains, bruises and respiratory ailments.

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
