Duties

Performs journeyman level work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, custodial, and other related trades.

Duty Location(s): Park Headquarters is located in Coulee Dam, Washington (population 6,000). Coulee Dam has a variety of stores, restaurants, gas stations, motels, churches, school (K-12), and a hospital. Additional services are available in the surrounding areas within a 50-90 mile radius. Major shopping services are available in Spokane (population 300,000) approximately 74 miles away and provide all the amenities of a large city.

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area typically experiences dry summers with an average in the upper 80s to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Winter temperatures average between 10-30 degrees Fahrenheit with the possibility of sub-zero temperatures. Winter driving is sometimes hazardous due to accumulated snow, black ice and freezing fog.

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities in a diverse natural setting on a 131-mile-long lake that is bordered by 312 miles of publicly owned shoreline, all of which is available for public use. Recreational activities include swimming and camping on sand-covered beaches, hiking, scuba diving, kayaking, waterskiing, boating, and fishing.
