Duties
Operations Management: Oversees all educational and interpretive services, including traditional interpretive media, social media, on-site /off-site, distance learning programs, scheduled walks and programs, and all visitor center operations. Collaborates with Paleontological and Resources Management staffs to ensure science and stewardship activities are communicated and interpreted to a wide range of audiences.
Program Administration: Directs all aspects of a multi-faceted, place-based and distance learning interpretation program. Key duties include strategic planning, budget planning and execution, project management and acquisition of funding to augment base dollars dedicated to the division.
Human Resources Management: Facilitates the full range of supervisory responsibilities for the division, which presently includes one GS-9 Park Ranger and two GS-7/9 Interpretive Rangers, several summer seasonals, interns and volunteers. Recruits staff and facilitates training and professional development.
External Engagement: Collaborates with external stakeholders, promotes educational and socioeconomic benefits of the monument beyond park boundaries, builds partnerships and alliances for mutually beneficial purposes, and fosters appreciation for the international paleontological significance of the monument.
Executive Collaboration: Serves on the park’s management team and functions as a principal advisor on all matters pertaining to park management and administration. Serves periodically as Acting Superintendent and exercises the full range of authority that accompanies that role.
