Join the National Park Service as a Biological Science Technician (Aquatics) with the Sonoran Desert Network (SODN)! This position involves complex biological science technical support functions, focusing on aquatic ecology and hydrology across national parks in AZ, NM, and TX.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze aquatic ecology and hydrology data from remote wetlands (springs, rivers) across multiple park units.
  • Identify amphibians and other aquatic animals using visual, aural, and indirect techniques such as eDNA and wildlife cameras.
  • Collect water quantity, quality, and chemistry data to assess wetland conditions, following established monitoring protocols.
  • Manage data throughout its lifecycle, including pre-season preparation, field data collection, and season close-out, ensuring adherence to certification procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and electronic data collection devices, oversee data management, and provide leadership and mentorship to a team of 2-4 members.
  • Coordinate logistics such as work schedules, housing and camping arrangements, email communications, gear organization, and basic vehicle maintenance.

Sonoran Desert Network, AZ, NM, TX – Work in diverse and unique desert environments, contributing to the understanding and preservation of vital aquatic ecosystems across these southwestern states.
