Latino Outdoors Community Hike

Join the Latino Community Foundation (LCF), Target, and Latino Outdoors in the beautiful redwoods at Roberts Regional Recreation Area (within Redwood Regional Park) in Oakland. Led by a bilingual guide, we will learn about nature, connect back to our roots, and make new friendships while hiking in the great outdoors.

Meet at the Redwood Bowl Staging Area off Skyline Blvd by 10am! This is the free parking lot (not the paid lot at the park entrance). See map below.

After hitting the trails, we will gather together to build community and enjoy a free and healthy lunch.

In partnership with Target, LCF is promoting healthy eating and active living in the lives of Latino youth and their families. LCF is partnering with the following Latino organizations to get it done:

Somos Mayfair, San Jose, supports children, organizes families, and connects neighbors to uplift the dreams, power, and leadership of the community.

Latino Outdoors, nationwide, is a network of leaders committed to engaging Latinos in the outdoors, connecting familias and youth with nature, and supporting our community of storytellers.

National Compadres Network, San Jose, continues the teachings of our ancestors who reinforced the importance of sacred values, traditions, and interconnected relationships as the foundation of cultural strength.

Siena Youth Center, Redwood City, provides active learning opportunites for young people to develop as leaders, improve academic achievement, and positively impact their communities.

Abuelos, tios, vecinos, niños are all welcome! Let’s Do It!

Redwood Hike: Trillium Fall Trails, Redwoods National Park

Join EPIC for a Redwood hike through Trillium Falls Trail in Redwood National Park. The hike will explore the misty hallways of an ancient redwood home. The stunning old growth, vast creeks, and 10 ft waterfall make it the most popular and awe inspiring trail in Redwood National Park.

This 3 mile loop is a well-maintained trail and designed to be accessible to almost anyone. This hike is rated moderate due to some switchbacks and change in elevation, so please come prepared with water and hiking shoes. Meet-up is at the EPIC office in Arcata, located at 145 G Street, Suite A, at 10 a.m. Space is limited, so PLEASE register.

All hikes in our series will be bilingual—providing interpretation in both English and Spanish.

Please wear appropriate clothing and foot ware, bring food, and water, and anything else you may need to be comfortable and safe in the forest. There is a strict NO DOGS rule in place for all our 2018 Redwood Hikes series, so please leave your companions at home.
