Join us for an exciting day of wildlife discovery and connection at Nachusa Grasslands in Illinois! Latino Outdoors invites you to our Roam with Bison adventure, a unique experience where nature lovers, hikers, and nuestra comunidad come together to explore the beautiful prairies, learn about local wildlife, and share in a day of camaraderie and learning.

EVENT DETAILS:

Start Time: Our adventure will begin promptly at 9:15 AM, so please arrive on time. The total duration will be approximately 2 hours, with breaks to observe the bison and appreciate the landscape. Our distance covered will be contingent on bison sightings; however, expect to be on your feet for about 90 minutes.

Weather: There is expected rain at noon, so our goal is to conclude the hike before the rain begins. The event will continue regardless of rain, but we will cancel if there are thunderstorms. Please register only if you’re ready for a bit of adventure, rain or shine!

Transportation: Everyone is responsible for their own transportation. Nachusa Grasslands is about an hour and a half away from the city, so please give yourself ample time to arrive.

Food: Trail snacks and water will be provided at the starting point. Feel free to bring your own packed lunch to enjoy post-hike if desired.

Registration: Our volunteers are very intentional about organizing our events and programming. Please only register if you are certain you can attend. Do not make this your “backup” weekend plan. 🙂 As always, we understand that life happens—please let us know prior to the event if you are unable to attend so we can give the opportunity to someone else interested.
