SUMMARY:Reach Higher Trail Challenge; Free Spanish Ranger-led Programs at Lassen Volcanic National Park
DESCRIPTION:(Photo by NPS) \nLatino Outdoors supports Lassen Volcanic National Park’s “Reach Higher Trail Challenge.”  Lassen is offering special Spanish ranger-led programs every Saturday from June 13 through September 19\, 2015. Programs include a bilingual ranger-led hike\, free park entrance for the day of the program\, gas voucher (per two people)\, and 7-day park pass to return to the park at a later date. Space is limited to 20 people per program; reservations are required. \nProgram Information \nPrograms begin at 10 am and meet at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. Programs require walking on a trail with a ranger. The specific hike will vary with each group’s preference and abilities and will end by 2 pm. Actual hiking time will be one to two hours. Following the initial meet-up\, participants will follow the ranger in their personal vehicles to the selected trailhead. Participants must complete the ranger-led program to receive the free 7-day pass and gas voucher. Call the park to reserve your spot at 530-595-4480. \nWhat Should I Bring? \nParticipants should bring clothing layers\, sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses\, tennis or hiking (preferred) shoes\, camera\, snacks\, reusable bottle (if you have one). \n\n  \nEn asociación o cooperación (partnership) con el Latino Outreach of Tehama County (la Extensión o Divulgación Latina del Condado de Tehama)\, Lassen está ofreciendo Programas gratuitos en Español conducidos o guiados por Guardas del Parque (Rangers) para alcanzar o conseguir estándares más altos\, los Sábados\, desde el 13 de Junio hasta el 19 de Septiembre\, de 2015. Los programas incluyen Caminatas (hikes) guiadas por Guardas bilingües\, entrada gratuita al parque el día del programa\, un bono o vale para gasolina o gas (para dos personas)\, y un Pase de entrada al Parque\, por 7 días\, para volver al parque en una fecha posterior. Lets take thee opportunity for our community to go out and discover the winter magic. \nWhen: Saturday\, February 21\, 2015. 11:00 am \n      Snowshoe Program Times: 11:30am (Spanish)\, 1:30pm (English); Must be 8 years of age or older to participate in the walk. \n      Alternative Program for Children Under 8: Sledding\, activities and more! \nWhere:Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center\, 21820 Lassen National Park Hwy\, Mineral\, CA 96063 \nWhat to Bring: \n\nWarm Clothes. Please dress in warm winter clothes (Includes: Jacket\, hat\, gloves\, winter boots recommended but not required). A change of dry clothes for the end of the day is also recommended.\nLunch. Pack a hearty lunch. Playing in the snow builds up quite the appetite.\nWater\n\nTransportation: No transportation will be provided for this outing. SUMMARY:The Anza Expedition of 1775
DESCRIPTION:This outing is not led or sponsored by Latino Outdoors. But is is organized and sponsored by community partners Midpen and Anza National Historic Trail. Interpretive ranger Daniel Sanchez is a Latino Trailblazer\, part of the Latino Outdoors community\, sharing the stories of the diversity of the Latino identity in connection to our public lands and historic sites. \nFrom Midpen: \nYou’ll walk approximately 5-miles along various trails at this Preserve with docents Ed Lange and Kandis Scott\, and special guest Daniel Sanchez\, Interpretive Ranger for the Anza National Historic Trail-National Park Service to learn about the Anza Expedition of 1775. The history and intention of the expedition\, as well as local Native American culture\, and changes to the natural community will be explored. For more information on the Anza National Historic Trail visit www.anzahistorictrail.org. \nWhere to meet:\nThis Skyline Ridge Preserve activity will meet at the Russian Ridge Preserve parking lot located on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right).
