About LO’s COVID-19 Guidelines

After careful consideration and consultation with LO leaders about the resumption of in-person outings, we have implemented the following measures to allow us to safely gather in person while minimizing the risk of community spread:

New policies and procedures

1. All attendees must maintain physical distancing.

2. Leaders and participants will decide together whether or not to wear masks.

3. Anyone who feels sick or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should stay home. In the case that someone begins displaying symptoms during an outing, they will be escorted back to their vehicle to go home and rest or separated from others until they can go home.

As the pandemic evolves, so will our approach to keeping you safe. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we manage this, and invite you to check in with us if you have any questions.

What you can expect from LO

To ensure the number of people present at in-person gatherings does not go beyond what is considered safe by local health guidelines

To be given accurate and truthful information about LO outings in the context of COVID-19

Adherence to county level public health department guidelines

What LO expects from participants

We take safety at our community outings very seriously. We ask participants to self-certify that they do not have symptoms, have not been diagnosed with or had direct contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 14 days, and will comply with LO’s safety policies and procedures. Together, we can ensure safe, positive, and meaningful experiences in nature.

CENSOTERIA – Latino Conservation Week

Lotería is a traditional game enjoyed by many. To add some fun tor Latino Conservation week, we will use a special Census themed deck.

Dear Friends,

Join us for virtual CENSOTERIA!

Lotería is a traditional game enjoyed by many in the Latino community. To add some fun tor Latino Conservation week, we will use a special themed deck. The theme being the Census making this a “Censoteria” game!(Census + Loteria= Censoteria)

Participants can expect not only to have fun but to learn a little more about the power of Latino civic engagement. By celebrating Latino Conservation week, participants will connect virtually with outdoor enthusiasts, learn about the importance of the Census and civic participation. This “Censoteria” game will have a slower pace than traditional Loteria in that after each card pulled the hosts will share information on that card. We estimate the game to last about 2 hours. With an optional Q&A after the game to get to know the hosts a little more. Moreover you are encouraged to connect with the host organizations after the game to learn more about their environmental advocacy work.

All are welcomed. We encourage you to bring snacks and a drink to add to the experience of game night.

*please note you will receive a follow up email with zoom login information, game rules, and other specifics no later than the morning of July 22nd. As registration closes on the 21st.

**We will also send a reminder email about an hour prior to the event.

A little more about Latino Conservation Week and the hosts:

Latino Conservation Week was started by the Hispanic Access Foundation in 2014 to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. This year during the week of July 18-26, community, non-profit, faith-based, and government organizations and agencies hold events throughout the country.

Latino Outdoors is a unique Latino-led organization. We are working to create a national community of leaders in conservation and outdoor education. As part of this work, we are focused on expanding and amplifying the Latino experience in the outdoors; providing greater opportunities for leadership, mentorship, professional opportunities and serving as a platform for sharing cultural connections and narratives that are often overlooked by the traditional outdoor movement. It is a space for the community to be present, share their voices, and showcase how conservation roots have been ingrained in Latino cultura for generations.

Nature for All is building a diverse base of support for ensuring that everyone in the Los Angeles area—no matter where they live—has equitable access to the wide range of benefits that nature can provide. Nature For All advocates for policies and programs that will protect the mountains and rivers in our area, create more natural spaces in our historically underserved neighborhoods, and connect people and public lands through more trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities.

Queridos amigos
